Best Job I Ever Had
In thirty-four years of accounting I worked for seven different companies in industries including oil & gas exploration, aircraft manufacturing, solid waste disposal, real estate development and leisure entertainment like golf and amusement parks. Despite being able to play all the miniature golf I could from one employer in Myrtle Beach, my favorite job was when I worked for Waste Management, Inc. in the 90s. -
Christmas Traditions and Memories
Then there was the year our pastor had a young daughter who was terrified of snakes. The older “wisemen” whispered to her that there was a snake in the church and she ran down the aisle screaming “Nake! Nake!” I know my parents laughed about that for years; still makes me giggle 50+ years later. -
Coffee Shops and Drive Thrus
I didn’t even drink coffee until I was 35 or 36 years old. Well, that’s not 100% accurate. As a child I liked to have what my parents called “Go-Go”. -

Picking Up Trash
When we joined the Friends of Bald Rock several months ago for a clean-up, we found huge amounts of trash including beer bottles, spray cans, and men’s underwear. The work of the volunteer organization was obvious this time. It was much cleaner. They have met monthly to keep the area more presentable and less of a target for litterbugs.

Lottery Winnings
When I got back in the car, Jenni asked how many I bought and I answered ‘three’. Why three? One for me, one for her, and one for Annie (but we won’t tell the dog if hers is the one that wins!). -
Home Repairs
A couple years ago, probably BC (Before Covid), the lights stopped working in our den ceiling fan fixture. I tinkered with them a little bit but couldn’t get them to work. And yes, I did check the light bulbs to make sure they were good. (Why does every YouTube video start out with that tip?) -

Rhine River Cruise
The Uber ride to the airport was our final tourist experience. The driver was very friendly and did his best to engage us in conversation. There was no rush for us but he took the curves as if there was a reason to shave off seconds. And then the highways and canals came into discussion and he searched for a couple photos on his phone while he drove. -
We're Not Those Kind of People
If you have kept up with even half of my blogs you know that Jenni and I are very comfortable planning our own travels and doing so on a whim. So when we first considered booking a river cruise with Viking Cruise Lines our own argument was that “we’re not those kind of people”.
